About PKA Law

PKA is a full-service boutique law firm that specializes in providing customized legal representation with a clear focus on the business objectives of its clients. PKA ensures that it understands both the business and legal needs of clients and, where appropriate, acts as an outside general counsel to the businesses it represents. Working with newly formed companies and long-standing enterprises, PKA works on the key legal issues clients confront, with a focus on corporate and partnership disputes; commercial litigation; alternative dispute resolution; corporate and financial transactions, including private securities offerings; labor, employment and workforce management; trusts and estates; and real estate transactions. As outside general counsel we work with our clients to structure their governance documents to anticipate and minimize costly future conflicts and disputes regarding management and ownership. Unfortunately, such conflicts cannot always be avoided, in which case PKA has extensive experience in litigating matters relating to these conflicts.

Founded in 1994 by Joseph N. Paykin and Charles D. Krieg, PKA’s attorneys have decades of experience serving clients across a broad variety of businesses including: financial services; construction; food and alcohol; technology; fashion, arts and media; and transportation industries. PKA’s clients range from high net worth individuals and entrepreneurs, to closely-held, family-owned and mid-size businesses.

No matter what the issue, PKA provides every client the same personal attention; legal excellence; and comprehensive, cost effective legal solutions.

Story About Us

PKA was created by three childhood friends who desired to provide legal services  designed to benefit the client not the law firm.  This underlying belief was generated by the three members experiences as clients, general counsel and practitioners.

Firm History

Prior to forming Paykin Krieg & Adams, LLP (”PKA”), Joseph Paykin worked for a prestigious Wall Street firm, and formed a partnership with Charles Krieg in 1994 in order to provide specialized and customized representation to their clients. In 2009, Thomas Adams joined his childhood friends Paykin and Krieg and they formed PKA. Adams became head of PKA’s corporate department due to his extensive knowledge gained during his career in the financial services industry which included, but not limited to, a stint with a substantial Wall Street firm and in-house counsel positions with financial institutions, including a fortune 500 ratings agency. The three partners created PKA with the goal of representing clients as if the attorneys were actually in-house counsel. This novel approach to representation was created to ensure that PKA’s actions are crafted to maximize benefits to the client not to PKA. In other words, PKA will always search for the most cost-effective solutions and not merely seek victory without regard to the value added.
